About CoastConnect
CoastConnect — Caloundra to Maroochydore is one of many Queensland Government initiatives underway to improve public transport on the Sunshine Coast.
CoastConnect will:
- be a road-based solution to give buses priority over cars on main roads between Caloundra and Maroochydore
- introduce bus/transit lanes and cycle lanes to major roads
- provide fast, reliable and comfortable bus travel
- provide architecturally-designed bus stations at key locations
- upgrade and review the location of existing bus stops and install additional stops to improve access to the bus network
- offer real time passenger information at bus stations
- incorporate the go card ticketing system
- support new bus routes and increased frequencies
- maintain key express routes on the Sunshine Motorway between Kawana and Maroochydore.
- dedicated on-road cycle lanes
- bus lanes — a dedicated lane for buses and emergency vehicles
- transit lanes — a dedicated lane for buses, cars with three or more people, and emergency vehicles
- bus stations in key activity areas
- bus stop upgrades
- bus queue bypasses — an additional length of lane to enable buses to bypass the traffic waiting at traffic lights
- bus queue jumps at traffic lights — a three to six second head start for buses.
